Alternative approaches for research assessment strategies in the business of higher education

Given paper discusses evaluation strategies of university research in the context of increasing competition on the market of higher education. Existing research assessment strategies has been working successfully for decades but new trends show that initial benefits outweighs the costs but over time evaluation system produces diminishing returns. Assessment systems must reflect the qualities that Open Science requires from modern researchers. Multiple criteria evaluation must prevail taking into the consideration of the research field and the nature of the assessment.
