Охарактеризовано фінансові інструменти, використовувані ФІР, серед яких виокремлено: прямі позики, приватний капітал, гарантії, кредити фінансовим посередникам, гібридні інструменти (“квазікапітал” і мезонінне фінансування), синдиковані кредити тощо. Проаналізовано окремі напрями співробітництва між ФІР й Україною, а також висвітлено основні принципи цієї співпраці. Для розуміння ролі та місця ФІР у розвитку вітчизняної економіки розкрито фундаментальні аспекти відповідних проектів, що реалізуються за рахунок інвестиційних коштів у соціальному, електроенергетичному, транспортному, державному секторах. Визначено перспективні й прибуткові напрями інвестування іноземних коштів у національні проекти співробітництва. Ці проекти спрямовані на посилення конкурентоспроможності національної економіки на інноваційних засадах, підвищення рівня життя і добробуту, забезпечення рівних можливостей громадян, підтримку структурних зрушень за рахунок розвитку високотехнологічних перспективних секторів економіки. The article discusses the main trends in the development of financial development institutions (DFIs) as strategic partners in implementing the necessary structural reforms and modernization of the financial system and examines the current state of their investment in development projects in the world. The financial instruments, which DFIs use in their activities, are characterized. Among them are the following: direct loans, private equity, guarantees, loans to financial intermediaries, hybrid instruments (“quasi-equity”, mezzanine finance), syndicated loans, direct equity investments, and grants. Some modern areas of cooperation between financial development institutions and Ukraine are analyzed, as well as the basic principles of this cooperation revealed. To understand the role and place of the DFIs in the process of the domestic economy development, the fundamental aspects of the relevant projects implemented at the expense of the DFI’s investment funds in the social, electric power, transport, and public sectors are identified. Prospective and profitable directions of foreign investment in national cooperation projects are outlined. These projects are aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy on an innovative basis, raising the living standards and well-being, ensuring equal opportunities for citizens, supporting structural changes through the development of high-tech promising sectors of the economy. The main problems associated with the projects financed by financial development institutions are considered. Among them are the following: lack of clear development outcomes; macroeconomic risks; lack of transparency and poor accountability for the operations; a relatively small proportion of the share capital of the companies in developing countries receiving investment from the DFI; financing goes mainly to enterprises with dominant share capital of the country of DFI’s origin. Recommendations on improving cooperation with the DFI are formulated.
