Abstract
S. Podolynsky is primarily linked with the Physical Economics because of his discussions on conservation and the use of solar energy. In his book «Human Work and its Attitude to the Distribution of Energy» he was one of the first to raise questions
about energy life, ecology, autotrophy of humanity, etc., which are pressing today.
The main purpose of the thesis is to outline his theory that has much to say to us today in the age of global environmental crisis and to trace how Podolynsky’s biophysical analysis led him to conclude that ultimate limits to economic growth lay not in the shackles of the relations of production, but in physical and ecological laws.
