The article deals with the activities of the Pryutynske Brotherhood, which operated for a long time and united scholars and intellectuals in the late XIX — early XX century. We analyze ideological and moral principles of the brotherhood, program documents, relations between members and their families. Considerable attention is payed to the brotherhood’s social orientation as well as to V. Vernadsky — initiator of the name «Brotherhood». We also studied functioning of the Brotherhood during the whole period of its existence and the role that Volodymyr Vernadsky played in it.
