Korolenko, Viacheslav
The article explores the issue of assessing the effectiveness of capital formation at the enterprise level as a key process that determines the economic stability and strategic development prospects of business entities. It is shown that contemporary approaches to defining the essence and evaluating capital formation are diverse, characterized by terminological ambiguity and methodological fragmentation. The majority of existing methodologies are finance-centered, which limits their analytical relevance under post-industrial conditions, where intangible resources and non-financial factors increasingly shape enterprise capital value. The purpose of the study is to provide a scientific substantiation of current benchmarks for evaluating capital formation that are capable of integrating heterogeneous approaches into a systematic structure and creating a foundation for further development of methodological tools. The article proposes a systematization of existing evaluation logics within four dimensions: process-based, object-based, attributive, and managerial. This approach enables the structuring of diverse methodological solutions and ensures their complementarity, paving the way for the development of a holistic conceptual framework. Particular attention is devoted to evaluation principles that constitute the methodological basis for analyzing the effectiveness of capital formation. Alongside classical principles of systemicity, multidimensionality, and value openness, new benchmarks are substantiated – prognostic relevance, algorithmic integrability, and scenario adaptability. These expand the research field, transforming evaluation from an instrument of retrospective diagnosis into a mechanism for anticipating enterprises’ future development trajectories. The value of the obtained results lies in combining the typologization of approaches with the formulation of innovative principles that meet the challenges of the data-driven economy. The practical significance of the study is defined by the possibility of applying the proposed conceptual framework within systems of strategic management, investment policy, non-financial reporting, and corporate controlling.

Korolenko, Viacheslav
The article is devoted to the ontological analysis of the phenomenon of capital formation in the context of the post-industrial transformation of the economy and the growing role of capital in intangible forms. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to rethink the theoretical foundations of capital as a fundamental category of economic science, as well as by the necessity to develop a new conceptual framework capable of explaining qualitative changes in the forms, sources, and mechanisms of capital formation in the modern socio-economic environment. The article conceptualizes capital formation as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon that cannot be reduced to purely financial investment, encompassing social, intellectual, cultural, digital, and institutional components. The study reveals meaningful differences in the understanding of capital formation at the macroeconomic level and at the level of business organizations. The macroeconomic aspect of capital formation is viewed as a continuously evolving process of capital stock accumulation, based on a complex mechanism of transforming savings into productive investment. At the level of business organizations, capital formation is characterized as a multilayered and multifaceted process that unfolds under post-industrial conditions and is shaped by a system of needs, economic interests, and individual, organizational, and societal values. Methodologically, the paper substantiates the need for an ontological approach, which allows the identification of immanent characteristics of capital formation — those that are internally inherent and consistently present regardless of the specific form of realization. The study identifies eight such immanent characteristics: transformational nature, temporal dynamism, accumulativeness, multiformity, productive orientation, risk component, value orientation, and institutional embeddedness. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of capital emanation, understood as a mechanism for generating new forms of capital — digital, brand-related, reputational, and social. In this context, capital is conceptualized as a self-developing phenomenon capable of adapting to environmental changes without losing its essence. The findings provide a conceptual foundation for further interdisciplinary research on the nature of capital and for developing strategies of effective capital formation in the digital economy.

Korolenko, Viacheslav
In the context of economic instability, structural change, and limited investment resources, assessing the efficiency of capital formation at the enterprise level becomes an important analytical task. In contemporary economic practice, capital formation efficiency is commonly evaluated using financial performance indicators, profitability ratios, or value-based measures. However, such a result-oriented approach does not adequately reflect internal process characteristics that determine an enterprise’s ability to reproduce and develop capital over time. The key problem addressed in this study is the methodological limitation of existing assessment approaches, which associate efficiency primarily with financial outcomes and largely ignore the quality of the underlying economic processes. Enterprises with comparable profitability indicators may differ substantially in the logic of capital accumulation, transformation, and conversion. This indicates the presence of latent process constraints that are not captured by traditional indicators but influence long-term development. Although capital efficiency, investment performance, and value creation have been widely studied, process-based diagnostics of capital formation remain insufficiently developed. In particular, the integration of accumulation, transformation, and conversion processes into a unified analytical framework, as well as the identification of process asynchrony at the enterprise level, has received limited attention. The objective of this article is to substantiate and empirically test a process-based methodological approach to assessing the efficiency of capital formation at an enterprise, enabling a shift from result-oriented evaluation to process diagnostics. The article proposes a functional–matrix diagnostic framework that combines functional, matrix, and dynamic analytical models. The methodology is applied to a sample of manufacturing enterprises and makes it possible to identify typical process configurations, directions of asynchrony, and patterns of interaction among key capital formation processes. Spearman’s rank correlation analysis is used as an auxiliary tool to interpret the consistency of process changes without establishing causal relationships. The results show that capital formation efficiency is processually heterogeneous and cannot be explained by universal factors or isolated performance indicators. The proposed approach allows the identification of internal process imbalances and provides an analytical basis for managerial decisions aimed at improving the coherence of capital formation processes under changing economic conditions.
