М.; Zadorozhniuk, V.
Personnel assessment allows determining strong as well as weak traits of the workers, which is a prerequisite for their further professional and personal development and as a result positively influences the development of the organization as a whole. The article follows up and analyses typical errors which happen widely during personnel appraisals within an organization. Those errors include but are not limited to: poorly determined goals for the personnel evaluation; misunderstanding by the staff of the real purpose of the appraisal and its real value; improper choice of the evaluation method; mistakes brought about by the persons doing the assessment due to the human factors; a misuse or ignoring the results of the evaluation. The article brings forth the ways that can minimize or even eliminate altogether the impact of those errors on the final results of the personnel assessment. It is also stated that the whole process of preparing and conducting the assessment ought to be planned and executed meticulously, and all the factors that impact the results, namely the goals of the personnel appraisal, categories of personnel who are assessed, the nature of the organization where the personnel evaluation takes place etc., should be accounted for. Avoiding most of those standard errors during the personnel assessment would guaranty increasing reliability and usefulness of the appraisal results.
