    Food systems transformations: a pathway to sustainable development

    In the paper, based on bibliographic research, the relevance of the problem of transformation of food systems is confirmed. Depending on the analysis of the Food System Economics Commission (FSEC), the World Bank, Statista's international statistical database, and the published publications on the issue, the necessity of transformation of food systems is substantiated for sustainable development. At the end of the research, conclusions are drawn and recommendations are offered.

    The paper, based on international statistical data, substantiates the economic feasibility of vegetable production; Global competition in the vegetable market is discussed in regional and state terms; Confrontational effects on the global vegetable market are analyzed; The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war on the global vegetable market is assessed; Recommendations are proposed, and conclusions are developed around the challenges identified as a result of the research.
