| dc.description.abstract | The article reveals the preconditions and essence of bank consolidation as an economic phenomenon, which is accompanied by a decrease in the number of banks and an increase in their size and market share, which leads to increased control in the banking industry. It is determined that the impact of consolidation on economic processes may differ depending on the state of the national banking system and its integration into the global financial space, the intensity of competition, cyclical manifestations of the economy and other factors. The main stages of bank consolidation and their national specifics are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the impact of financial crises on the consolidation of the banking industry. Various types and forms of bank consolidation and differentiation of its manifestations and consequences are considered. The main forms of bank consolidation were identified, including mergers in the form of mergers, acquisitions, participation in capital, strategic alliance / partnership; growth of banks through capitalization of profit and share issue; reduction in the number of banks as a result of liquidation and reorganization. Types of bank consolidation typology are defined, including the level of consolidation processes, composition of participants, direction, level of its intensity and consequences. According to the level of consolidation processes, local, national, regional, global bank consolidation is distinguished. Intra-sectoral and cross-sectoral consolidation was revealed on the basis of participants. Horizontal, vertical and functional consolidation are distinguished by direction, and, in terms of intensity and impact, minor, moderate, significant (excessive) and complete consolidation. The specific manifestations and consequences of these types and types of bank consolidation are disclosed. Particular attention is paid to such current trends in bank consolidation as the link with economic cycles, the globalization of these processes, the expansion of consolidation beyond financial markets, the formation of the basic principles of regulatory influence on these processes internationally. | uk_UA |
