Abstract
The paper conducted a study of microtoponyms. The importance of proper names of small geographical objects is proved. Microtoponyms have absorbed the history of the region and inform about the area. Such names are changeable, because they are not fixed on maps, they are used only by residents of a certain settlement. With the change of generations, the names themselves change. Unfortunately, some villages disappear altogether, and with them disappears a large layer of anonymous vocabulary. The task of researchers is to record and analyze microtoponyms, because they are an element of national security.
