| dc.description.abstract | Бінарні опціони набули широкого поширення як у світі, так і в Україні. Проте вітчизняна торгівля ними зосереджена на онлайн-платформах, які мають ознаки шахрайських схем. Перш за все, у таких платформ відсутні ліцензії на надання фінансових послуг в Україні, що є джерелом юридичного ризику. Окрім того, схема виплат за бінарними опціонами є асиметричною: трейдеру потрібно здійснювати набагато більше прибуткових операцій просто для того, щоб досягти беззбитковості. Окрім того, онлайн-платформи з торгівлі опціонами можуть займатись маніпуляціями з програмним забезпеченням та крадіжкою персональних даних клієнтів. Все це свідчить про необхідність роз’яснювальної роботи серед потенційних клієнтів таких платформ та боротьби з їх діяльністю в Україні. Binary options are a relatively new financial instrument. Despite this, binary options have spread all over the world. They are traded mostly on the over-thecounter market via online platforms. Their relative simplicity and allegedly high returns make binary options quite popular among inexperienced investors. At the same time, there are some features which indicate that binary options online trading platforms may use fraudulent schemes. First of all, trading platforms are not licensed for providing financial services in Ukraine. Most of them are registered in Cyprus which has relatively slack financial legislation. Consequently, it is a source of considerable legal risk. It would be almost impossible to get investor’s money back in case of fraudulent activities. The next issue is possible using internal clearing by binary options trading platforms. In this case, they might omit passing client’s orders further to the market, but perform all operations within a trading platform. As a result, trading platforms compete with their clients for money. Their incomes are equal to client’s losses. Binary options trading platforms use quite specific payout structure. The payoff in case of a successful trade is lesser than the losses in case of an unsuccessful operation. It results in negative expected returns for almost all traders in the long-term period. Traders should perform much more successful trades than losing ones in order to achieve the break-even point. Moreover, according to the SEC and CFTC reports, there are numerous complaints of fraud associated with binary options trading platforms. The most popular complaints are a refusal to reimburse funds to customers, manipulation of software to generate losing trades, and identity theft. To conclude, binary options trading platforms attract a lot of inexperienced traders in Ukraine through aggressive advertisement, high-pressure sales, promises of easy income, and low entry barriers. At the same time, such trading platforms are nothing but fraudulent schemes and provide no access to the real financial market. | uk_UA |
