The necessity of disaggregating the characteristics of enterprise competitiveness is substantiated as a condition for determining the levels of influence of external and internal factors, whose consideration serves as the analytical basis for justifying relevant managerial decisions. An expanded interpretation of the scope of competitive interests of enterprises is presented, encompassing not only the markets for finished goods but also market segments where enterprises act as consumers of resources. This approach considers their competitiveness in acquiring high-quality resources in the required quantities. The categorical and evaluative components of the concept of competition are identified, enabling the clarification of the essence of competitiveness as both an economic category and an evaluative characteristic of enterprises' competitive position in the market. It has been demonstrated that the semantic dualism of competitiveness manifests in two ways: as a process of resolving economic contradictions among market counterparts and as rivalry over a specific subject of competition with direct competitors. A key aspect of the substantive content of competitiveness is the rivalry for the subject of competition. It is concluded that the subject of competition consists of economic resources, the availability of which is a prerequisite for the reproduction process within an enterprise. The dependence of enterprises' acquisition of necessary resources on their competitive performance in operational markets is highlighted. These markets include goods (product) markets, material and financial resource markets, and labor markets, where market participants act as both sellers and buyers, exchanging necessary resources for monetary or product equivalents. The causal appropriateness of differentiating sectoral competitiveness—product, human resources, investment, credit, and resource-material—and cyclical competitiveness— functional, potential, and realized—has been identified. Definitions are provided, and the roles of functional, potential, and realized competitiveness in forming the enterprise competitiveness framework as an object of analytical focus in the primary operational markets are highlighted.
