The dissertation is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodological foundations and practical aspects of bank lending for green projects in the context of the transformation of the financial sector and the transition to the principles of sustainable development. The research has generated new scientifically substantiated results of both theoretical and practical significance. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the further development of theoretical provisions and the improvement of methodological approaches to bank lending for green projects through the integration of ESG criteria into the lending process, the systematization of the economic essence and principles of green lending, the substantiation of mechanisms for assessing environmental risks and the impact of projects on sustainable development, as well as the enhancement of bank credit risk management instruments in the context of achieving sustainable development goals and supporting the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The study presents a scientifically substantiated approach to the standardization of environmental lending procedures, taking into account the principles of the EU Taxonomy, ESG criteria, and national decarbonization priorities. It also substantiates the functional role of green bank lending within the green finance system by supplementing the classical economic functions of credit (redistributive, reproductive, and emission functions) with an environmental function aimed at ensuring the reproduction of environmental capital and financing environmental protection measures.
