    Gender and Intercultural Education

    Intercultural education has become a pivotal domain in understanding within diverse educational settings. However, the concept of gender within intercultural education remains an underexplored aspect, despite its profound implications for educational environments. This article aims to elucidate the complex relationship between gender dynamics and intercultural stereotypes. Theoretical frameworks and practical implications are suggested. By synthesizing existing literature and identifying gaps in research, this review provides a foundation for future inquiry and underscores the importance of integrating gender perspectives into intercultural education discourse and practice. Міжкультурна освіта стала ключовою сферою вивчення в різних навчальних закладах. Однак концепція гендерних ролей в міжкультурній освіті залишається недостатньо вивченим аспектом, незважаючи на його глибокі здобутки для навчального середовища. Пропонований огляд має на меті з’ясувати складний зв’язок між гендерною динамікою та міжкультурними стереотипами. Запропоновано огляд теоретичних основ та практичні приклади. Узагальнюючи наявну літературу та виявляючи прогалини в дослідженнях, цей огляд створює основу для майбутніх досліджень і підкреслює важливість інтеграції гендерних питань у дискурс і практику міжкультурної освіти.

    How to Boost Critical Thinking in Intecultural Communication Course

    The article addresses the issue of developing students’ critical thinking skills as an effective way of dealing with stereotypes arising in intercultural communication. These skills constitute an integral component of intercultural communicative competence (ICC), which is the result of merging communicative and intercultural competences and recognized as a key goal in foreign language teaching. The article gives an overview of critical thinking skills, describes their standards and founds that these skills are instrumental in overcoming cultural stereotypes. Based on our teaching experience, we suggest some activities for developing critical thinking skills in the Intercultural communication course. The activities are aimed at reducing and preventing stereotypes, or overgeneralizations, which often lead to misunderstanding and distorted perceptions of other cultures as well as students’ own culture.

    Intercultural communication course design: needs and challenges

    Globalization has made intercultural communication inevitable. Communicating with other cultures characterizes today’s business, classroom, and community. Therefore, it is important that universities prepare their graduates to challenges of an intercultural academic and working environment. This paper will be of special interest to university professionals concerned with Intercultural Communication Course (ICC) design and assessment of intercultural communicative competence in particular, as it gives a brief review of overseas research and practices in this field. Міжкультурна комунікація є неминучим наслідком глобалізації. Комунікація з іншими культурами спостерігається в бізнесі, академічному та соціальному середовищах. У зв’язку з цим випускники університетів мають бути підготовленими до викликів, пов’язаних із різноманітністю міжкультурних взаємовідносин. Стаття містить огляд міжнародних досліджень в області міжкультурної комунікації і призначена для викладачів – практиків, зацікавлених у розробці сучасного курсу з міжкультурної комунікації, його викладанні та оцінюванні міжкультурної компетенції.
