Global transformations of the national educational discourse (terminological paradigm)

The Terminological Tolerance Concept for Economic Media Discourse: The Ukrainian Words vs Borrowed Words

The study presents an analysis of the economic segment of contemporary media discourse, which not only reproduces professional information in various genres, but also actively influences the formation of new linguistic trends. One of the most foreground phenomena in the Ukrainian media is to find a permanent balance between national and foreign-language lexical units as an indisputable factor in maintaining the adequate level of linguistic tolerance in a multicultural environment. There are controversial views on the degree of internationalization for the terms that are the main carriers of special information in the economic media texts; such a controversity is based on the attempts to maximize the use of the national linguistic resource and to borrow the instruments that will facilitate effective international scientific communication. The article analyzes the correlation of foreign languages and the specific terms in an economic media text, identifies possible causes of terminological imbalance, and emphasizes on the normative aspect of the foreign language lexemes’ functioning. The analysis of the group questionnaire results makes it possible to predict that terminological tolerance at the level of a media text and a communication participant can be achieved if we take into account substantive, national-cultural, and regulatory factors.

Епітет як компонент лексико-семантичного поля «час» у поетичній мові Ліни Костенко

У статті досліджено епітетну парадигму в структурі лексико-семантичного поля «час» у поетичних текстах Ліни Костенко, чиє мовна практика є знаковим феноменом в українському культурному просторі останніх пів сторіччя. У художніх текстах представлена авторська картина світу, що корелює з екстралінгвальними (культурними, соціальними, історичними тощо) умовами їхнього створення. На рівні дослідження мовостилю своєрідними конкретизаторами мистецького світосприймання та світорозуміння можуть стати епітетні сполуки, адже за ними виразно простежуємо ще й історію літературної мови в певний період її розвитку. Теорія епітета як поліфункціонального елемента художнього опису детально випрацювана в багатьох лінгвістичних дослідженнях. Епітет у текстах Л. Костенко так само є одним з продуктивних образотвірних та експресивно-оцінних засобів, певним механізмом творення художньо-естетичної реальності, індивідуального художньо-словесного моделювання світу, зокрема в лексико-семантичному полі «час». Визначено тематичні групи означень цього поля із стрижневими семами ‛тривалість’ (довгий час, короткі ночі, коротка мить), ‛температура’ (холодна зима, гаряче літо, тепле літо, холодний ранок, прохололі дні, пекучий день), ‛метеохарактеристика’ (сонячний день, місячний вечір, темна ніч), ‛колір’ (блакитний ранок, сивий день, день золотий, золота (золотава) осінь), ‛звук’ (надвечір’я дзвінке, тихий вечір). У поезіях Л. Костенко навколо назв часу виформувано значний корпус автологічних (безобразних) означень, які можуть відновлювати притаманну їм образність та оцінність. Найбільш кількісну групу автологічних епітетів становлять власне-темпоральні означення, які вказують на співвіднесеність із певним відтинком часу, так само автологічний характер мають означення із семою ‘температурний режим’. Спостережено, що в проаналізованих часових дистрибутах активно використані колірні номінації на зразок чорний, білий, синій, блакитний (голубий), сірий, золотий, чия текстотвірна активність визначена і належністю до основних чи периферійних сегментів спектра, і складними асоціативними зв’язками, реалізованими в конкретних віршових контекстах. На перетині зі складниками лексико-семантичних мікрополів «зовнішній портрет людини» та «психологічний портрет людини» виявлено антропоморфні епітети, які засвідчують кілька типів персоніфікаційних перенесень на підставі актуалізації різних ознак. Підтверджено високу активність часоназв в епітетному словнику Л. Костенко, де авторка розширює означальні контексти, увиразнюючи художню деталь. Поглиблений аналіз таких мовних структур-конкретизаторів мовомислення авторки водночас сприятиме осягненню національної мовно-естетичної репрезентації категорії часу. The article examines the paradigm of epithet in the structure of the lexico-semantic field of time in the poetic texts of Lina Kostenko, whose linguistic practice has been a significant phenomenon in the Ukrainian cultural space of the 2nd half of the 21st century. Kostenko’s artistic texts present her vision of the world which correlates with the extralinguistic (cultural, social, historical, etc.) conditions of their creation. At the level of the analysis of the poet’ stylistics, the epithet compounds can be regarded as the concretizers of the artistic perception of the world and the implicit ways of specifying the historical background and the details of Ukrainian literary language of the above period of its development. A plethora of linguistic studies have been conducted to explore the role of the epithet as a polyfunctional element of artistic description. The epithet in L. Kostenko's texts is also one of the productive image-creating and expressiveevaluative means, a certain mechanism of creating artisticaesthetic reality, individual artistic-verbal modeling of the world, in particular in the lexico-semantic field of time. The thematic groups of meanings of this field are defined with the core semes of «duration» (long time, short nights, short moment), «temperature» (cold winter, hot summer, warm summer, cold morning, cool days, scorching day), «weather conditions» (sunny day, moonlit evening, dark night), «color» (blue morning, gray day, golden day, golden (golden) autumn), «sound» (ringing evening, quiet evening). To our mind, in the poems of L. Kostenko, a significant corpus of autologous (uncharacteristic) meanings is formed around the names of time, which can restore their inherent imagery and value. The most quantitative group of autologous epithets consists of proper-temporal meanings, which indicate correlation with a certain period of time, as well as autologous meanings with the term «temperature regime». Observed that in the analyzed time distributions, color nominations such as black, white, blue, cyan, gray, gold are actively used, whose text-creating activity is determined by belonging to the main or peripheral segments of the spectrum, and complex associative relationships realized in specific verse contexts. Our research has specified a variety of anthropomorphic epithets found at the intersection of the lexico-semantic microfields, such as «the portrait of a person’s appearance» and «the psychological portrait of a person». It proves that some types of figurative personification are based on the actualization of various features. The vocabulary of L. Kostenko's epithets contains a huge number of the compounds related to the category of time in which the author combines the contextual meanings with certain artistic details. An in-depth analysis of such linguistic structures, concretizers the author's linguistic philosophy, thus, contributing to the understanding of the national linguistic and aesthetic representation of the category of time.

У статті здійснено аналіз вербалізаторів концепту «самотність» у мові української поезії кінця ХХ – початку ХХІ століття. Доведено його важливість як компонента лінгвопсихологічного портретування людини-сучасника. Простежено актуальні для поетичного моделювання стану самотності мовообрази із просторовою, кількісною та аудіальною семантикою. Наголошено, що конкретизація абстракту «самотність» активно відбувається в семантичних площинах «природа» і «побут», зі зниженням оцінності в останньому сегменті. Продуктивність окреслених напрямків образотворення підтверджують персоніфіковані структури з лексичним центром «самотність». Серед інших показових засобів схарактеризовано образні сполуки-описи психоемоційного стану самотності, розгорнуті до рівня мікротексту. Відзначено, що проаналізовані образні структури засвідчують підвищену увагу сучасних авторів до словесно-художнього окреслення стану самотності.

This monograph is an attempt to find the answers for topical issues of modern discourse: what is the essence of the term as a basic unit of professional language, what trends in modern professional communication are and can be, whether it is worth to seek a balance between the native and foreign in view of advances in the globalization era and merging boundaries between cultures. The articles highlight the authors’ long-term research interests and cover various aspects of the scientific nomination in special subtexts. This book is dedicated to the linguistic parameters of modern professional communication. Лінгвософія часу в сучасній українській поезії

У статті досліджено систему лексико-семантичних часопозначень у сучасних поетичних текстах. Розглянуто зреалізовані в авторських текстах засоби вербалізації семантики часу. Визначено домінантні метафоричні моделі «час – людина», «час – простір», «час – природа», у якій виокремлено мікромоделі «час – рослина», «час – тварина», «час – птах», «час – вода». Акцентовано, що в цих образних структурах відбувається мовно-естетична репрезентація часономенів. Спостережено традиційну сполучуваність часоназв у дієслівних і генетивних метафорах водночас із суттєвим оновленням образного слововживання. Підтверджено підвищену увагу авторів до епітета як одного з найбільш активних засобів поетичної антропоморфізації в системі лінгвоестетичних конкретизаторів абстрактної семантики часу. Introduction. In the process of the development of Ukrainian linguistics, the scholars have demonstrated their persistent interest in the linguistic tools for describing time as a fundamental ideological and mental category. The structuralist approaches to the semantic means and expressions used to actualize time dominating at the end of the 20th century, have been substituted by the scientific priorities with the emphasis on cognitive, linguo-cultural and, therefore, linguosophic facets of acquiring knowledge about time and its linguistic descriptors. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to specify and describe the means of verbalizing the semantics of time in modern Ukrainian poetic texts. Results. Modern Ukrainian poetic texts regularly demonstrate that the term time conveys not only the direct meaning recorded in lexicographical sources but also implies numerous concretizers which segment, correlate, and describe both the general concept of time and its various aspects. In such a context, the observed regularity seems quite logical, as it is the poetic texts that verbalize the motif/theme of time flow whereas the verbs with the semantics of movement are the linguistic means of transmitting the main functional and aesthetic charge. The analysis of large literary bulk gives us the reason to state that poetic description of the onset / completion and course of certain time periods is closely related to its verbal characteristics. Additionally, the vague temporal semantics of these texts is verbalized by the images that belong to the metaphorical models «time – space», «time – human being», «time – nature». These models are characterized by the high level of artistic anthropomorphism, yet with the radical occasional modernization of the stereotyped verbal formulas. The revealed trend to specify and actualize the vague semantics of time seems equally interesting and promising. Moreover, it is quite productively supported by the wide use of the metaphors related to the sphere of human everyday life, genitive metaphors and similes. Conclusion. The linguistic cognitions of the authors of the analysed poetic texts confirm the compatibility of the traditional linguistic symbols used to denote time with the diverse artistic and figurative verbalizers of it. The most productive types of creating metaphors are found at the intersection of the following conceptual spheres time – human being, time – nature (bird, animal, plant, water, wind), time – space. A new reading of the modern poetic dictionary is a promising direction for the actualization of the linguistic and cultural identity of Ukrainians. In the poetry of the war period, modernization of the linguistic descriptors of the category of time becomes obvious, as the dominant models give way to the original author's aesthetic and representative time markers, which reflect deep existential shifts in the worldview of modern readers.

Модель мовної освіти у вимірі національної самоідентичності

У статті проаналізовано індивідуально-авторське вживання порівнянь у поетичних текстах С. Жадана. Розглянуто особливості лексичної семантики та формально-граматичної організації порівняльних зворотів, їх ефективність як стилістичного засобу в ідіостилі сучасного українського поета. The individual author’s expression of idea of similes and their frequency of repetition in poetic texts by S. Zhadan has been analyzed. Peculiarities of lexical semantics and formal and grammatical organization of comparative expressions have been considered; their effectiveness as of a stylistic instrument in the writer’s theme of up-todate Ukrainian poet has been studied. Selected groups of comparative rotations for the syntactic role in the sentence, which create the appropriate color of the author’s micro and macro textures.

Проаналізовано шляхи проникнення інтернаціоналізмів в українську термінологію менеджменту. Досліджено особливості функціонування міжнародних лексем у сучасній економічній метамові. Визначено найбільш актуальні способи адаптації міжнародних терміноодиниць субмови менеджменту. Акцентовано на можливих варіантах семантичної трансформації міжнародних лексем. Підтверджено словотвірну активність міжнародних термінів. Схарактеризовано позитивні й негативні прояви інтернаціоналізації досліджуваної терміносистеми. The article is dedicated to modern manifestations of various trends in the choice of national or foreign name, especially in the economic discourse of recent years, where the problem of terminological oppositions between “specifi c” and “borrowed” has a place. The need to establish boundaries and defi ne the principles of linguistic tolerance for any terminological units of language is among the most obvious questions that researchers make efforts to answer, despite the fact that the internationalization of terminological unit is an universal linguistic phenomenon. Therefore, the ways how internationalisms are borrowed in the Ukrainian management terminology are analyzed. The specifi c features of how international terminological units are functioning in the modern economic metalanguage with an emphasis on their ability to evolve are studied. There are determined most relevant ways to adapt international terminological units within the frameworks of management sublanguage, which either do not undergo any changes or are adapted to the laws of the Ukrainian language in different ways. The emphasis is made on available options to semantic transformation of international international terminological units, a certain part of which has become a lexical basis for the terminology under study. There was is confi rmed the international terms’ word-forming activity basing on which various term-forming families are formed. The purpose of this study is to clear up the issue what role the international terms in the modern economic metalanguage as an important factor in maintaining or upsetting the language tolerance balance. That is why there are characterized the positive and negative manifestations of how the terminology under study undergoes to internationalization. In the research, an important emphasis is made on the obligatory consideration of the balanced use criterion, which is applied for international vocabulary in order to maintain the language tolerance level.
