Assessing the quality of banking services based on fuzzy logic method

The study analyzed the existing mathematical methods and models for assessing the quality of banking services. It is determined that they have the following disadvantages: consumers evaluate services in the form of the score, which is a complex process for them and characterized by subjectivism; the weights of the criteria of quality are not considered. Therefore, it is decided to carry out an expert survey, where the criteria are qualitative assessments. Further, by using the fuzzy inference system, a vector of quantitative estimates is formed. In addition, a method for calculating criteria weights was proposed, on the basis of which a general assessment of the quality of banking services can be obtained. As a result of applying this method, the bank receives a quantitative assessment of the quality of the provided services. This assessment will make it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the bank and, based on the results obtained, to develop a strategy for improving the quality of services in the bank. У статті проведено аналіз існуючих математичних методів і моделей оцінювання якості банківських послуг. Визначено, що наявні методи мають ряд недоліків, зокрема: клієнти банку оцінюють послуги у вигляді конкретного балу, що вносить значну частку суб’єктивізму; запропоновані методи не враховують вагомості різних критеріїв якості в загальній оцінці. В результаті у статті вирішено проводити експертне оцінювання на основі якісних характеристик. На їх основі з використанням апарату нечіткого логічного виведення утворюється вектор кількісних оцінок і здійснюється розрахунок вагових коефіцієнтів критеріїв якості. У результаті застосування даного методу банк отримує кількісну оцінку якості пропонованих послуг. Таке оцінювання дозволить банку визначити сильні та слабкі сторони та на їх основі розробити стратегію покращення якості послуг банку. В статье проведен анализ существующих математических методов и моделей оценки качества банковских услуг. Выявлено, что данные методы имеют ряд недостатков, в частности: клиенты банка оценивают услуги в виде конкретного балла, что вносит в расчеты значительную долю субъективизма; предложенные методы не учитывают значимости различных критериев качества в общей оценке. В результате в статье решено проводить экспертное оценивание с учетом качественных характеристик. На их основе с использованием аппарата нечеткого логического вывода формируется вектор количественных оценок и осуществляется расчет весовых коэффициентов критериев качества. В результате применения данного метода банк получает количественную оценку качества предлагаемых услуг. Такая оценка позволит банку определить сильные и слабые стороны и, на их основе разработать стратегию улучшения качества услуг банка.
Calibration of Dupire local volatility model using genetic algorithm of optimization

The problem of calibration of local volatility model of Dupire has been formalized. It uses genetic algorithm as alternative to regularization approach with further application of gradient descent algorithm. Components that solve Dupire’s partial differential equation that represents dynamics of underlying asset’s price within Dupire model have been built. This price depends in particular on values of volatility parameters. Local volatility is parametrized in two dimensions (by Dupire model): time to maturity of the option and strike price (execution price). On maturity axis linear interpolation is used while on strike axis we use B‐Splines. Genetic operators of mutation and selection are then applied to parameters of B‐Splines. Resulting parameters allow us to obtain the values of local volatility both in knot points and intermediate points using interpolation techniques. Then we solve Dupire equation and calculate model values of option prices. To calculate cost function we simulate market values of option prices using classic Black‐Scholes model. An experimental research to compare simulated market volatility and volatility obtained by means of calibration of Dupire model has been conducted. The goal is to estimate the precision of the approach and its usability in practice. To estimate the precision of obtained results we use a measure based on average deviation of modeled local volatility from values used to simulate market prices of the options. The research has shown that the approach to calibration using genetic algorithm of optimization requires some additional manipulations to achieve convergence. In particular it requires non‐uniform discretization of the space of model parameters as well as usage of de Boor interpolation. Value 0.07 turns out to be the most efficient mutation parameter. Using this parameter leads to quicker convergence. It has been proved that the algorithm allows precise calibration of local volatility surface from option prices. Формалізовано задачу калібрування моделі локальної волатильності Дюпіра із застосуванням генетичного алгоритму оптимізації, як альтернативу підходу «регуляризації» із подальшим використанням алгоритму градієнтного спуску. Побудовано компоненти для розв’язання диференційного рівняння Дюпіра, яке відображає динаміку ціни на базовий актив в рамках моделі Дюпіра. Така ціна, окрім іншого, залежить від значень параметрів локальної волатильності, яку параметризовано за двома вимірами (за моделлю Дюпіра): часу до експірації опціона та ціною страйк (ціною виконання). За віссю часу використано лінійну інтерполяцію, а за віссю страйк – В‐сплайни. До параметрів В‐сплайнів застосовано генетичні оператори селекції та мутації. Результуючі параметри дозволяють отримати значення локальної волатильності у вузлових точках, а також в проміжних точках шляхом інтерполяції. Після цього шляхом розв’язку рівняння Дюпіра отримуються модельні значення цін на опціони. Для розрахунку цільової функції промодельовано ринкові значення цін на опціони з використанням класичного варіанту моделі Блека‐Шоулза. Проведено експериментальне дослідження з порівняння модельованої ринкової волатильності та волатильності, отриманої шляхом калібрування моделі Дюпіра, для оцінки ефективності підходу і аналізу можливості його використання на практиці. Для оцінки точності отриманих результатів використано міру, що базується на середньому відхиленні модельованої локальної волатильності, отриманої шляхом калібрування моделі, від реальних значень ринкових цін на опціони. Дослідження показало, що підхід до калібрування з використанням генетичного алгоритму оптимізації вимагає застосування додаткових маніпуляцій для досягнення збіжності алгоритму, зокрема використання нерівномірної дискретизації простору параметрів моделі, а також алгоритму інтерполяції Де Бура. Виявлено найбільш ефективне значення параметру мутації для даної задачі, яке дорівнює 0,07. За цього значення збіжність алгоритму досягається найшвидше. Доведено, що алгоритм здатен досить точно калібрувати поверхню локальної волатильності з ринкових цін на опціони. Формализована задача калибровки модели локальной волатильности Дюпира с использованием генетического алгоритма оптимизации как альтернатива подходу «регуляризации» с дальнейшим использованием алгоритма градиентного спуска. Построены компоненты для решения дифференциального уравнения Дюпира, которое отражает динамику цены на базовый актив в рамках модели Дюпира. Такая цена, кроме прочего, зависит от значений параметров локальной волатильности, параметризированной по двум измерениям (по модели Дюпира): времени до экспирации опциона и ценой страйк (ценой исполнения). По оси времени использована линейная интерполяция, а по оси страйк – В‐сплайны. К параметрам В‐сплайнов применены генетические операторы мутации и селекции. Результирующие параметры позволяют получить значение локальной волатильности как в узловых, так и в промежуточных точках путем интерполяции. После этого решается уравнение Дюпира и рассчитываются модельные значения цен на опционы. Для расчета целевой функции моделируем рыночные значения цен на опционы с использованием классического варианта модели Блека‐Шоулза. Проведено экспериментальное исследование по сравнению смоделированной рыночной волатильности и волатильности, полученной путем калибровки модели Дюпира, для оценки эффективности подхода и анализа возможности его применения на практике. Для оценки точности полученных результатов использована мера, которая базируется на среднем отклонении моделированной локальной волатильности, полученной путем калибровки модели, от реальных значений рыночных цен на опционы. Исследование показало, что подход к калибровке с использованием генетического алгоритма оптимизации требует применения дополнительных манипуляций для достижения сходимости алгоритма, а именно – неравномерной дискретизации пространства параметров модели, а также интерполяции Де Бура. Определено, что наиболее эффективное значение параметра мутации для данной задачи равняется 0,07, при котором сходимость алгоритма достигается максимально быстро. Доказано, что алгоритм способен довольно точно калибровать поверхность локальной волатильности из рыночных цен на опционы.
Employment in the coordinates of digital economy: current trends and foresight trajectories

The article presents a scientific and applied argumentation of current trends and the authors’ vision of foresight trajectories of employment in the coordinates of digital economy. A critical synthesis of existing scientific research has been carried out, which has shown the dynamic scaling of digital economy in global economic space with profound multi-vector shifts in employment at various levels. The authors’ hypothesis that the scale and structure of employment would change intensively in both constructive and destructive dimensions under the influence of digitalization has been suggested and proved. The nature of constructivism and destructiveness of such changes has been disclosed. Trends in the level of employment in global coordinates, in Europe as a whole and in Ukraine have been analyzed with the use of the International Labour Organization’s information resource. It was clustered eight analyzed industries (in the field of high-tech manufacturing, high-tech services and certain export-oriented industries) using Kohonen self-organizing maps toolset, which allowed, based on a set of characteristic socio-labour and socio-economic indicators of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine for the period from 2013 to 2020, to analyze the state of development of each industry by the structure of employed and economic development, as well as to study trends in changes in state of industries in dynamics under conditions of digitalization. The analysis of the clustering results showed that despite very serious economic challenges and real problems in most industries, 2014 and 2020 can be considered the years of rapid development of digital technologies in high-tech industries, which were accompanied by a reduction in the number of employees and a decrease in salaries. The least digital transformations mainly concerned industrial sectors during the years of economic recovery of Ukraine in the period from 2015 to 2018. Results of the study of the impact of employment in high-tech industries and high-tech services sectors on the dynamics of gross domestic product and gross value added in the Ukrainian economy are presented. Results of forecasting these indicators with allocation of upper and lower confidence limits in a trend have been presented, which allowed to model optimistic, realistic and pessimistic scenarios of the abovementioned macroeconomic indicators development. A hypothesis regarding increase in the probability of implementing an optimistic scenario of gross domestic product and gross value-added dynamics under conditions of digitalization by optimizing the number and the structure of those employed in the high-tech segment has been proposed and proved.
Enterprise strategies stratification based on the fuzzy matrix approach

A stratification model of enterprise strategies on the basis of tools of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy matrix analysis was developed. Classic methods of strategic diagnostics of the company, fuzzy methods of multi-criteria evaluation (Fuzzy Extension of Simplified Best-Worst Method (Fuzzy SBWM) and Fuzzy SAW) and fuzzy matrices were used to achieve the goals set. The classic Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) criteria were used to make a strategic choice. The developed model is based on defined term sets of expert linguistic assessments (8-level – for determining the importance of SWOT factors and 7-level – for evaluating strategic alternatives) with their subsequent conversion into fuzzy numbers with triangular membership functions. The Fuzzy SBWM was used to calculate the importance of SWOT factors for each area of analysis, and the Fuzzy SAW method was used to determine the fuzzy integral evaluations of strategic alternatives for these areas. Strategic alternatives were positioned in fuzzy matrices “O – T” and “S – W” using the α-section. Stratification of strategies is based on the superposition of fuzzy matrices and the application of production rules for the obtained integral fuzzy estimates of strategic alternatives. The framework has been developed in the Excel software application to carry out calculations according to this approach, which contains the following components: a block for entering linguistic expert information (for each direction of analysis and evaluation of strategic alternatives) and transforming these linguistic data into fuzzy numbers in a triangular form, a block for calculating factor weighting coefficients by best and worst approaches and their fuzzy integral values, a block for calculating fuzzy values of strategies in the directions of “opportunities-threats” and “strengths-weaknesses” at different values of α-section, a block of production rules for stratification of strategies to carry out calculations according to this approach. The methodical approach enables the top management of the enterprise to determine the weighting coefficients of the SWOT factors and identify the list of preferable strategic alternatives for implementation.
EU countries clustering for the state of food security using machine learning techniques

The food security problem has emerged from the growing pressure of demographic problem and global inequality. Overall, the state of food security is optimal in the EU. This was achieved due to effective implementation of regulatory initiatives regarding EU countries food self-sufficiency and intra-EU food market protection. The purpose of the research paper was to cluster EU countries in terms of food security level using advanced mathematical modeling tools. To this end, we selected 5 food security factors (FAO Food production index, Total factor productivity in agriculture, Per capita agricultural expenditure, Consumer prices food, Net trade food index) to which we applied the following cluster analysis algorithms (self-organizing maps, dendrograms, k-means and k-medoids clustering). As a result of the conducted experimental research, it was found that self-organizing maps and dendrograms methods to be better suited for data visualization, whereas k-means and k-medoids give more accurate and detailed solutions. The obtained results gave us an opportunity to define the advantages and disadvantages of the selected clustering methods, as well as to present agripolicy recommendations for different groups of EU countries.
Forecasting electricity generation from renewable sources in developing countries (on the example of Ukraine)

Electricity generation forecasting is a common task that helps power generating companies plan capacity, minimize costs, and detect anomaly. Despite its importance, there are serious challenges associated with obtaining reliable and high-quality forecasts, especially when it comes to the newly created renewable electricity market. A practical approach to predicting the generation of electricity from alternative sources in developing countries (on the example of Ukraine) based on the use of classical (ARIMA, TBATS) and modern (Prophet, NNAR) approaches is proposed. The legal framework regulating the process of Ukraine's entry into the pan-European energy market and its functioning was analyzed: the weak points of the legislation on responsibility, the permissible accuracy of weather conditions data, and the lack of data on the monitoring infrastructure are indicated. Among all the proposed alternatives, the Prophet model was the most accurate, since it allows you to simultaneously take into account several seasonalities (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and holidays). According to this, for an operational forecast (6 hours) the best model is the one that takes into account hourly seasonality, and for shortterm forecasts (24 and 48 hours) and medium-term forecast (72 hours) the most accurate models are those taking into account hourly, daily, weekly seasonality and weather conditions. The obtained forecasts and model quality indicators approve the feasibility of applying the proposed approach and the constructed models that can be used in a wide range of economic problems.
Fuzzy logic model of usability of websites of higher education institutions in the context of digitalization of educational services

The purpose of the study is to substantiate a fuzzy logic model for the usability of websites of higher education institutions in the context of digitalization of educational services based on the previous results of the stakeholder survey in accordance with the selected criteria: loading speed, convenience, efficiency, relevance, accessibility, interactivity, cross-browser compatibility, lack of forced content, attractive design, satisfaction. The research methodology is based on the results of the previous scoring of personal data and fuzzy logical conclusions of stakeholders regarding the convenience of using the websites of higher education institutions. As a result, a model of fuzzy logical inference was substantiated and implemented in the Fuzzy Logic Toolbox MatLab environment according to the Mamdani algorithm based on 180 constructed rules. As a result of a study of eight institutions of higher education, the degree of usability of their sites was determined and a quantitative assessment of usability was obtained. The scope of application of the modeling results concerns the possibilities of providing a more accurate understanding of the directions for making further management decisions regarding improving the usability of the site in order to provide quality educational services within the boundaries of the existing online interaction of higher education institutions and their stakeholders. In practice, the use of the developed model is an effective tool for ensuring the quality of educational services in the context of active digitalization of the functioning of higher education institutions.
Fuzzy модели оценки качества социальной системы

Розглядається соціальна система, підсистемами якої є економічне, соціальне, політичне, духовне і природне середовища. При побудові fuzzy моделі соціальної системи використовується статистична інформація ряду міжнародних організацій, Республіки Азербайджан, а також думки експертів різних спеціальностей. Індекси якості соціальної системи визначаються за допомогою побудови fuzzy моделі окремих підсистем. Для розв’язку задач за відповідними моделями використовується алгоритм нечітких зважених правил.
Identifying stock market crashes by fuzzy measures of complexity

This study, for the first time, presents the possibility of using fuzzy set theory in combination with information theory and recurrent analysis to construct indicators (indicators-precursors) of crisis phenomena in complex nonlinear systems. In our study, we analyze the 4 most important crisis periods in the history of the stock market – 1929, 1987, 2008 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In particular, using the sliding window procedure, we analyze how the complexity of the studied crashes changes over time, and how it depends on events such as the global stock market crises. For comparative analysis, we take classical Shannon entropy, approximation and permutation entropy, recurrent diagrams, and their fuzzy alternatives. Each of the fuzzy modifications uses three membership functions: exponential, sigmoidal, and simple linear functions. Empirical results demonstrate the fact that the fuzzification of classical entropy and recurrence approaches opens up prospects for constructing effective and reliable indicators-precursors of critical events in the studied complex systems.
Intellectual capital management of the business community based on the neuro-fuzzy hybrid system

The modern economy needs to address the issue of assessing intellectual capital as the basis for the development of market relations. The search for ways to solve this problem is possible based on the use of soft methods. The aim of the article is to develop a structural model for managing the intellectual capital of the business community based on an appropriate neuro-fuzzy system. Developed on the basis of soft computing methods, an innovative model for estimating intellectual capital of the business community is able to process “non-rigorous”, incomplete or distorted input data, work with qualitative concepts, ambiguous and uncertain statements, perform operations with weak formalized economic parameters. The experimental results obtained made it possible to formulate the methods for evaluating the intellectual capital of business communities (or other similar economic systems) characterized by fuzzy relations between input and output parameters, considerable difficulties in formalizing the factors of influence, capability of using linguistic experts’ statements for building an information and analytical system, etc. The developed hybrid neuro-fuzzy system “Board” for evaluating intellectual capital of a business community enables to process both quantitative and qualitative input data, and was built up according to the criteria of digital economy transformation projects.
Machine learning approach of analysis of emotional polarity of electronic social media

This paper proposes a new approach to evaluating the emotional polarity (or Sentiment Analysis) of electronic social media texts. For this purpose both conventional Machine Learning (Logistic Regression and Support Vector Machine), and Deep Neural Networks approaches (Fully Connected and Convolutional Neural Networks) were used. As vector representations of words, we used both the frequency-based and pretrained words embeddings Word2vec and GloVe (with embedding dimensions of size 100 and 300). For the selected English-language IMDb Movie Reviews dataset the classification accuracy using the Logistic Regression model was 87%, the Support Vector Machine – 87.5%, the Fully Connected Neural Network – 88%, and the Convolutional Network – 90%. The accuracy of the proposed models is a quite acceptable for practical use-cases and is not inferior to cutting-edge Natural Language Processing solutions in the field of Sentiment Analysis, which opens up good prospects for further research. У статті пропонується новий підхід до оцінки емоційної полярності (або аналізу настроїв) електронних текстів у соціальних мережах. Для цього використовувалися як класичні методи машинного навчання (логістична регресія та метод опорних векторів), так і інструментарій глибоких нейронних мереж (повнозв’язні та згорткові нейромережі). Векторне представлення ґрунтувалось на частотних та попередньо навчених вкладеннях слів Word2vec і GloVe (з розмірами вкладення 100 і 300). Для вибраного англомовного набору даних IMDb Movie Reviews точність класифікації за допомогою моделі логістичної регресії становила 87%, машини опорних векторів – 87,5%, повнозв’язної нейронної мережі – 88% і згорткової мережі – 90%. Точність запропонованих моделей є цілком прийнятною для практичних ситуацій і не поступається передовим рішенням у сфері обробки природньої мови за напрямом аналізу настроїв, що відкриває обнадійливі перспективи для подальших досліджень.
Modeling national decarbonization capabilities using Kohonen maps

This study sought to develop a method to cluster countries based on their decarbonization capabilities and to determine how these nations’ reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has evolved over time. CO2 emissions clusters were identified using 11 indicators that measure both direct and indirect CO2 emissions, differentiating countries by their economic and population growth, energy consumption, and CO2 emission level. The panel data included 39 countries over the 10-year period of 2012–2021. The clustering was based on such type of neural networks as Kohonen self-organizing maps. This type of model facilitated grouping countries by similar decarbonization capabilities and economic development. The findings reveal that Norway and Sweden are the leaders in creating climate-resilient economies among the 39 countries analyzed. The analysis carried out can help other countries establish benchmarks for improving their own internal decarbonization activities based on leader nations’ strategies and borrowing their best practices for more efficient results. This study thus contributes to the literature regarding decarbonization activities by offering a multi-country dynamic clustering method using Kohonen maps.
Modeling relation between at-the-money local volatility and realized volatility of stocks

In this work we apply univariate and multivariate linear regressions to model the relation between at-the-money local volatility and realized volatility of stocks on the example of Microsoft shares. Local volatility is extracted from the set of Vanilla option prices on Microsoft stocks by assuming that Microsoft stock price follows Dupire local volatility process. At-the-money local volatility at different maturities is then used in linear regression predictor while realized volatility is a resulting variable. To handle the ill-posed character of Dupire calibration problem we use genetic algorithm of optimization. To obtain two local volatility datasets (regression inputs) two runs of the calibration are executed as we want to reflect the random nature of the genetic algorithm that can give slightly different values of local volatility for different runs. The model validation is performed by predicting out-of-sample realized volatility using local volatility and comparing it to real world values of the realized volatility. The statistical significance of local volatility is measured as a predictor of realized volatility at different maturities in the article. It is concluded that in all models the local volatility at longer maturities proves to be significant predictor of realized volatility (whether we predict realized volatility in a short time interval or in a longer one). Therefore it makes sense to predict the volatility on the market by calibrating local volatility from the options with longer maturities.
Modeling the values of reflexive characteristics of agents within the management of herd behavior at the enterprises

The central place at the formation of agent behavior at enterprises is the study of decision-making procedures and factors that mediate their choice. To determine the values of the reflexive characteristics of agents in the framework of management of herd behavior at enterprises a new approach is proposed based on questionnaire methods, the apparatus of the theory of fuzzy sets and neural network modeling. The determination of the values of reflexive characteristics of agents is carried out by the formation of fuzzy sets in the framework of the theory of L. Zadeh based on the results of a questionnaire of agents in selected areas. The agents are distributed by the Kohonen map into groups in order to numerically determine the values of their reflexive characteristics based on formed fuzzy sets. An important applied value in interpreting the results of the Kohonen SOM clustering is the ability to obtain representatives of specific clusters and average values of their characteristics, which are determined by the parameters of the network neurons and represent cluster centers. As a result of the clustering of input data vectors by directions of determining the values of the reflexive characteristics of agents, typical values of the required parameters are obtained for agents-representatives of clusters. The values of the reflexive characteristics of agents can be used to evaluate the results of decision-making by agents using the functions of reflexive choice to ensure effective management of manifestations of herd behavior at enterprises. The proposed modeling methodology will allow to identify the prerequisites for the manifestation of herd behavior at enterprises and the potential circle of agents for the formation of adequate managing actions in the process of ensuring effective management of herd behavior and achieving the goals of the enterprise.
Neuro-fuzzy modelling of economic specialties students’ speech-communicative professional competence

In the article, the new methodological approach and the corresponding mathematical apparatus based on neural networks and fuzzy logic methods for assessing the student’s speech-communicative professional competence level are proposed. It was proposed for the first time: the mathematical model for estimating the level of speech-communicative professional competence of economic specialties students and its formalization method based on the mathematical apparatus of fuzzy logic and the Hopfield neural network. It allows precisely and adequately with less losing time to map the set of input parameters to the set of resulting solutions, taking into account the wide range of both quantitative and qualitative factors of influence consider the complexity and dynamism of such a process. To carry out calculations of such a weakly formalized characteristic as speechcommunicative professional competence, the authors of the article propose the use of aggregation functions which allow assessing the levels of: psychophysical qualities of the student; personal qualities of the student; language competence of the economic specialties student; student’s speech competence; ability to ensure the quality of the student’s speech; skills to increase the effectiveness of the communicative process of student’s speech. The calculations performed have demonstrated the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach and the developed complex of models for solving problems with many subjective variables and significant uncertainty. У статті запропоновано новий методологічний підхід та відповідний математичний апарат на основі методів нейронних мереж та нечіткої логіки для оцінювання рівня мовно-комунікативної професійної компетентності студента. Вперше запропоновано математичну модель для оцінки рівня мовно-комунікативної професійної компетентності студентів економічних спеціальностей та метод її формалізації на основі математичного апарату нечіткої логіки та нейронної мережі Хопфілда. Це дозволяє точно й адекватно з меншими втратами часу відобразити набір вхідних параметрів до набору результуючих рішень, беручи до уваги широкий діапазон як кількісних, так і якісних факторів впливу для врахування складності та динамічності такого процесу. Для проведення розрахунків такої слабоформалізованої характеристики, як мовно-комунікативна професійна компетентність, автори статті пропонують використовувати агрегуючі функції, які дозволяють оцінити рівні: психофізичних якостей студента; особистісні якості; мовну компетентність студента економічних спеціальностей; мовленнєву компетентність; уміння забезпечити якість мовлення студента; уміння підвищувати ефективність комунікативного процесу мовлення студента. Проведені розрахунки продемонстрували валідність та ефективність запропонованого підходу та розробленого комплексу моделей для розв’язання задач із багатьма суб’єктивними змінними в умовах суттєвоїневизначеності.
Neuromodeling of features of crisis contagion on financial markets between countries with different levels of economic development

The study examines the problem of modeling the effects of the spread of crises between countries with different levels of economic development. The main focus is on the study of the spread of crisis contagions from the economy of the source country to the economies of the recipient countries. The authors conducted a fundamental analysis of the basic theoretical concepts, causes and mechanisms of crisis in the world economy. The relevant study was carried out in the context of certain types of financial crises. A methodological approach to modeling the processes of crisis contagion through financial and trade transmission channels has been developed and substantiated. In particular, a method of classifying economies according to the level of behavioral similarity of individual indicators of resilience within two years after the end of the latency period is proposed. The practical implementation of the technique in the form of a cyclic algorithm in the MATLAB system is performed. Approbation of the created software is performed on the data of the world financial crisis of 2008-2009. The obtained distribution of world economies and the calculation of statistical characteristics for each cluster made it possible to identify nine scenarios of economic development under the influence of crossborder processes of crisis. The influence of the type of exchange rate regime on the dynamics of the exchange rate during two years after the end of the latent period is analyzed separately. The analysis of the exchange rate in clusters showed that there is a certain relationship between the type of currency regime and the consequences of the crisis in domestic financial markets.
Research of the dependence of the efficiency of modeling the creditworthiness of borrowers on the method of forming a control subset

In the article has been conducted a research aiming increase of classification result stability of commercial bank’s debtor creditworthiness with usage of boosted decision trees and neural network algorithms due to the use of stratified sampling. It is proposed to improve the classical procedure of stratified sampling by taking into account not only the target variable, but also the most significant predictors of the model when forming the control subset. Experimental calculations to test the proposed hypotheses were carried out using the program packages LGBM and H2O on the data of international consumer finance provider Home Credit. In the article checked and confirmed that the use of stratified sampling in the process of forming a control subset during training of machine learning models makes possible to increase their stability and accuracy of forecasts on new data sets. As per the achieved results, the authors’ approach of stratified sampling during forming a control dataset by target variable and the most significant characteristics of a model demonstrates a higher average accuracy for boosted decision trees on the test subset compared to the standard stratified sampling algorithm and random selection. У статті проведено дослідження з підвищення стійкості результатів класифікації кредитоспроможності боржників комерційного банку з використанням бустингових дерев рішень та нейромережевих алгоритмів за рахунок застосування стратифікованого семплінгу. Запропоновано удосконалення класичної процедури стратифікованого семплінгу шляхом врахування при формуванні контрольної вибірки не тільки цільової змінної, але й найбільш значущих предикторів моделі. Експериментальні розрахунки для перевірки висунутих гіпотез проведено з використанням програмних пакетів LGBM і H2O на даних міжнародного провайдера споживчого кредитування Home Credit. У статті перевірено та підтверджено, що використання стратифікованого семплінгу в процесі формування контрольної вибірки під час навчання моделей машинного навчання дозволяє підвищити їх стабільність і точність прогнозів на нових наборах даних. Відповідно до отриманих результатів, авторський підхід до стратифікованого семплінгу при формуванні контрольного набору даних за цільовою змінною та найбільш значущими характеристиками моделі демонструє вищу середню точність для бустингових дерев рішень на тестовій вибірці в порівнянні зі стандартним стратифікованим алгоритмом семплінгу та випадковим відбором.
Risk and return for cryptocurrencies as alternative investment: Kohonen maps clustering

The active development of cryptocurrencies in recent years allows iden-tifying the process of forming new class of alternative investment assets. There was formed a sample of cryptocurrencies based on criteria capitalization and historical returns for estimation investment risk of this asset class. The sample included 327 cryptocurrencies, each of which has a capitalization of more than $ 1 mln. Measurement of investment risk was carried out on the basis of five approaches. The first one is grounded on the variability indicators. The second approach includes risk assess-ment in the context of asymmetry. The third is based on the concept of capital formation as part of the risk measures VaR and CVaR. The fourth focuses on measuring sensitivity risk. The fifth approach supposes using the Hurst exponent to measure risk. Based on the measures of these approaches, a comprehensive risk assessment was carried out. To cluster cryptocurrencies by riskiness, indicators from each group were selected, to which the technique of Kohonen self-organizing map was applied. The result was a partition of cryptocurrencies into three clusters. The analysis of the results is proposed and the corresponding conclusions and recommendations are made. Активний розвиток криптовалют в останні роки дозволяє ідентифікувати процес формування нового класу альтернативних інвестиційних активів. Для оцінки інвестиційного ризику цього класу активів у дослідженні була сформована вибірка криптовалют, заснована на критеріях капіталізації та історичної доходності. Вибірка включала 327 криптовалют, які мали капіталізацію більше 1 млн. дол. США. Вимірювання інвестиційного ризику здійснювалося на основі п’яти підходів. Перший з них заснований на показниках варіативності. Другий підхід включав оцінки ризику в контексті асиметрії. Третій ґрунтувався на концепції формування капіталу в межах мір ризику VaR та CVaR. Четвертий був сфокусований на ризику чутливості. П’ятий підхід передбачав використання для вимірювання ризику показника Херста. На основі мір із зазначених підходів було здійснено комплексне оцінювання ризику. Для кластеризації криптовалют за ризиковістю були вибрані індикатори з кожної групи, до яких була застосована технологія самоорганізаційних карт Кохонена. Результатом стало розбиття криптовалют у три кластера. Наведено аналіз отриманих результатів та зроблені відповідні висновки і рекомендації. Для оценки инвестиционного риска этого класса активов в исследовании была сформирована выборка криптовалют, основанная на критериях капитализации и исторической доходности. Выборка включала 327 криптовалют, которые имели капитализацию больше 1 млн. дол. США. Измерение инвестиционного риска осуществлялось на основе пяти подходов. Первый из них основан на применении показателей вариативности. Второй подход включал оценки риска в контексте асимметрии. Третий основывался на концепции формирования капитала в рамках мер риска VaR и CVaR. Четвертый был сфокусирован на риске чувствительности. Пятый подход предполагал использование для измерения риска показателя Херста. На основе мер из указанных подходов была осуществлена комплексная оценка риска. Для кластеризации криптовалют по их рисковости были выбраны индикаторы из каждой группы, к которым была применена технология самоорганизующихся карт Кохонена. Результатом стало разбиение криптовалют на три кластера. Приведен анализ полученных результатов и сделаны соответствующие выводы и рекомендации.
Time series forecasting of agricultural product prices using Elman and Jordan recurrent neural networks

Most practical problems of forecasting time series are characterized by a high level of nonlinearity and nonstationarity, noise, the presence of irregular trends, jumps, and anomalous emissions. Under these conditions, statistical and mathematical assumptions limit the possibility of applying classical forecasting methods. The main disadvantage of statistical models is the difficulty of choosing the type of model and selecting its parameters. An alternative to these methods may be methods of computational intelligence, which include artificial neural networks, which can significantly improve the accuracy of time series prediction. A significant advantage of neural networks is that they are able to learn and generalize the accumulated knowledge, highlighting the hidden relationships between input and output data. At the moment, the most time series forecasting solutions based on this toolkit involve the use of feed-forward neural networks (perceptrons, convolutional neural networks, etc.). The article provides an overview of the architecture, principles of operation, and methods of teaching known models of recurrent neural networks. In the study, we built and compared the architectures of Elman and Jordan neural networks for solving the problem of forecasting prices for agricultural products. The corresponding statistical comparisons of the above models are also given. The experimental results show that such approach provides high accuracy in predicting the values from the price of agriculture products.
Visibility graphs and precursors of stock crashes

Based on the network paradigm of complexity, a systematic analysis of the dynamics of the largest stock markets in the world has been carried out in the work. According to the algorithm of the visibility graph, the daily values of stock indices are converted into a network, the spectral and topological properties of which are sensitive to the critical and crisis phenomena of the studied complex systems. It is shown that some of the spectral and topological characteristics can serve as measures of the complexity of the stock market, and their specific behaviour in the pre-crisis period is used as indicators-precursors of crisis phenomena. The influence of globalization processes on the world stock market is taken into account by calculating the interconnection (multiplex) measures of complexity, which modifies in some way, but does not change the fundamentally predictive possibilities of the proposed indicators-precursors. Виходячи з мережної парадигми складності, у роботі проведено системний аналіз динаміки найбільших фондових ринків світу. За алгоритмом графа видимості щоденні значення фондових індексів перетворено у мережу, спектральні і топологічні властивості якої чутливі до критичних і кризових явищ досліджуваних складних систем. Показано, що деякі із спектральних і топологічних характеристик можуть слугувати мірами складності фондового ринку, а їх специфічна поведінка у передкризовий період використовуватись у якості індикаторів-передвісників кризових явищ. Вплив процесів глобалізації на світовий фондовий ринок враховано шляхом розрахунку міжмережніх (мультиплексних) мір складності, які певним чином модифікують, але не змінюють принципово прогнозних можливостей запропонованих індикаторів-передвісників. В работе проведен системный анализ динамики крупнейших фондовых рынков мира, базируясь на сетевой парадигме сложности. Согласно алгоритму графа видимости ежедневные значения фондовых индексов преобразованы в сеть, спектральные и топологические свойства которой чувствительны к критическим и кризисным явлениям исследуемых сложных систем. Показано, что некоторые из спектральных и топологических характеристик могут служить мерами сложности фондового рынка, а их специфическое поведение в предкризисный период использоваться в качестве индикаторов-предвестников кризисных явлений. Влияние процессов глобализации на мировой фондовый рынок учтено путем расчета межсетевых (мультиплексных) мер сложности, которые определенным образом модифицируют, но не меняют принципиально прогнозных возможностей предложенных индикаторов-предвестников.
